A first for the state of Massachusetts! This Limpkin was sighted yesterday, WAY out of its normal range of Florida and Central and South America. I went out this morning and got to observe it - looking healthy and eating grubs and earthworms from residential lawns. How did it end up here? A juvenile Roseate Spoonbill showed up in Massachusetts yesterday after we had a 3-day nor’easter. It was only the second time ever that this species has been spotted in our state - perhaps he got blown off course, just a little. Looks pretty hungry!
